How does an artist maintain clarity in a world of instant imagery? By looking backward to move forward. This exploration delves into how the discipline of Stoicism and the wisdom of Hindu sacred scripture provide a structural framework for contemporary mixed-media photography. By moving away from the rapid pace of digital production, we find a more intentional practice—one where ancient philosophy guides every stitch and chemical layer to create work of profound depth.

This article explains the thought process and reasons behind the choices I made in my work A Cry Still Unheard. I examine how blue shapes power and gender roles through photography and mixed media. I build upon blue’s deep history to reveal hidden patriarchal systems, while red threads speak of violence and resistance. This work reclaims colour as a way to question silence, erasure, and inherited trauma.
